Houston Choreographers X6 with Special Guest Houston Ballet II

Houston Choreographers X6 presents a memorable evening of dance featuring six dynamic independent local choreographers: Jacquelyne Boe, Roberta Cortes and Lindsey McGill, Rebecca French, Dorrell Martin, Stacy Skolnik and Kathy Wood. Each artist has been commissioned to premiere a piece for the concert. Houston Ballet II makes a guest appearance performing Allegro Brillante choreography by George Balanchine who called Allegro Brillante “everything I know about classical ballet in thirteen minutes.” This ballet is set to Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a work that the composer created from sketches for a composition that was intended to be his Sixth Symphony, but which instead served as a single movement which was published posthumously in 1894.

Critical Mass Friday

Critical Mass Houston is a casual bike ride starting from downtown Houston and going wherever. Cars rule the road every day, but one day a month we get together to celebrate our love for bicycles and have fun riding our bikes. This is generally a slow-paced ride where persons of all skill levels can participate. People start gathering around 6:30 and we roll out around 7:15pm. We’re usually at our final location between 9:30 – 10pm, and each time we try to finish some place fun and hang out for a while.

Enchanted Promenade

Enchanted Promenade comes to life through color-changing LED lighting. At night, the stamens grow brighter with a blazing red light that emanates through its petals and scatters warm light throughout. Below the soaring stems of the plant, diffused lighting subtly enhances an inviting seating area for visitors to lounge and enjoy the view.
