STUDY GOAL

We are excited to invite you and your child to participate in our study examining the relationship between infant control of behavior and feeding behaviors in 4-month old infants. The overall goal of this study is to understand factors related to the development of childhood obesity.

ACTIVITIES

  • Family (mother and child) will visit the CNRC one time (complimentary parking will be provided).
  • Visit will last about 2.5 hours.
  • A recorded observation of your child feeding using a baby bottle that we will provide. A small sensor will be attached to the bottle. This sensor is designed to record the intensity and burst of your child’s sucking during feeding.
  • Behavior observation tasks with your child and you.
  • Your child’s body composition measurements: Height & Weight and DEXA (low intensity X-ray to assess body fat, mass, etc.).
  • Questionnaires completed by you.

COMPENSATION

You will be provided with financial compensation for your time and effort.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Participation in this study is completely voluntary.  You may decide to not allow your child to participate without consequence for you or your child.  If you allow your child to participate, you may change your mind and withdraw consent from the study at any time.
