Founded in 1971, Pilobolus has been pushing the boundaries of dance since its inception. And now, following sold-out performances throughout Europe and Asia, Pilobolus is bringing its latest project to Houston’s Jones Hall. With a mix of shadow theater, dance, circus, and concert elements, Shadowland is a one-of-a-kind show that’s been called “an amazing spectacle of inventiveness” (Le Parisien). Using multiple moving screens of differing sizes and shapes to create a performance that merges projected images with traditional choreography, Shadowland has inspired countless imitators. Featured on the Academy Awards and The Oprah Winfrey Show, Shadowland is equal parts comedic and intensely dramatic, creating exotic creatures and beautiful images out of thin air, using only dancers’ bodies and their shadows. With a moving story and an unforgettable original score, Houston audiences will not want to miss Shadowlands when it makes its premiere in Houston.
