The Woodlands Boys Choir is currently holding open auditions for its 2019 season, and invites Montgomery County area boys between age 6 and 13 to try out for the popular choir. Auditions are being held now through December at HopePointe Anglican Church and are scheduled by appointment by calling 401-855-3222 or emailing sherryl@hopepointe.org.
Our auditions short, simple, and convenient. The qualities we look for in the boys are a love of singing, a free, controlled tone that will blend well, a good sense of pitch, and self-discipline.
There are opportunities for several age groups. Talented boys ages 7 through 13 audition for coveted spots in the Tour Choir, a select group of 20 to 30 boys who participate in camps, retreats, trips and tours. Additionally, boys who are still at novice level can join TrebleMakers without auditioning. TrebleMakers is a special program for boys ages 6 to 8 to discover a love of singing, fun with music, and to develop musicianship skills. Further, a new group of boys with changed voices, Timbres, has recently formed formed as WBC branches out to include others in the community while providing an ensemble for the boys to transition into as they grow older.
The Woodlands Boys Choir performs locally, regionally, nationally, and even globally. The Tour Choir is just coming off of a fabulous third season, returning from their recent Washington DC/Baltimore tour where they participated with around 200 boys in the Baltimore Boychoir Festival. This upcoming May, the Tour Choir will take a mini-tour to participate in the Schlitterbahn Choral Festival in New Braunfels in a packed weekend that involves singing and enjoying the water park.
To schedule a brief audition (no preparation required), or for more information, visit the WBC website at www.woodlandsboyschoir.org, or contact Sherryl S. Pond, Director, at (401) 855-3222 or sherryl@hopepointe.org.
