Explore Abilities Day at Children's Museum of Houston

The Children’s Museum of Houston will host Explore Abilities Day, an opportunity for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to explore the Museum. We have a host of activities for both caregivers and kids, including storytimes, therapy dogs and much more! Doors will be closed to the public. There will be no music and sound-reducing headphones will be available. Outside food and drinks will be allowed (Fresh Café will be closed). Pre-registration is required.

Activities:
- Social Thinking Story Time: Listen to some fun stories that you're sure to enjoy in the Library.
- Event time: 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Houston Ballet: Learn some cool moves from Teaching Artist Katey Tidwell in Power Play Alcove.
- Event time: 10 a.m. - noon
- Caring Critters: Come interact with the wonderful therapy pups in Tree Top.
- Event time: 10 a.m. to noon
- The Parish School: Amy Lerman, MA, CCC-SLP tells us about "Red Flags and Understanding Typical Lanuagage Development" in Brown Auditorium.
- Event time: 10:15 to 11 a.m.

This exclusive event includes the following modifications:
- Doors will be closed to the public
- Less crowded environment free from unnecessary distractions
- No music will be playing on the overhead audio systems
- Extra visual signage for safety
- Specialists on hand for consultation and extra fun activities
- Sound reducing headphones, ear defenders and sunglasses available on loan
- Designated quiet rooms will be available
- Families are allowed to bring in outside food and drinks (Fresh Café will be closed)
