Children's Museum of Houston celebrates the Year of the Ram with lion dancers, cultural performances and Korean flair! Saturday, February 21

Rams are built tough! And The Children’s Museum of Houston will celebrate the ram’s strength during the Year of the Ram Lunar New Year Bash on Feb. 21. Live performances and interactive activities will give you a taste of Houston’s diverse Asian heritage. The celebration will focus on Korean traditions in light of the Heart and Seoul: Growing Up in Korea exhibit, now through May 20. Lunar New Year falls on Feb. 19.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
- Lion Dancers: Watch lions boogie to the beat of the drums in an exhilarating performance.
- Event time: Performances at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium.
- Traditional Dances: Discover the symbolic expression of Pan-Asian heritage.
- Event Time: Performances from 1:30 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium.
- WonderBox: Lock, drop and get down with a special K-pop interactive dance group.
- Event Time: Performance at 2:30 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium.
ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:
- Henna Hand Art: Decorate your handsin celebration of the New Year in Kids’ Hall.
- Face Painting and Coloring:Transform into any animal you wish at our face painting stationin Kids’ Hall. Or bring your animal to life on paper instead.
- Chinese Calligraphy on Paper Fans: Try this traditional art form in Kids’ Hall.
- Lei Making: Welcome the New Year with decorative flowers to wear in Kids’ Hall.
- Chinese Lantern: Welcome the New Year by decorating a lantern in Kids’ Hall.
- Origami: Learn about the art of paper folding and create a masterpiece in Kids’ Hall.
- Cherry Blossom Trees: Paint beautiful blooming flowers in Alexander Art Academy.
- Traditional Hanbok: Design your own mini traditional Korean dress at Junktion.
- Taegeuk Fan: Spread harmony with this traditional Korean fan at Junktion.
- Korean Origami Lucky Star: Put your heart and soul into this delicate art form in Junktion.
- Chopsticks Game: Transfer pom-poms with chopsticks – fast! In ExxonMobil Math Cart.
- “Red is a Dragon” by Grace Lin: Piece together a parade dragon at Parent Resource Library.
