Now in its 31st season, Main Street Theater’s Education & Youth Outreach Department provides year-round creative opportunities for ages 4 – high school at our theater and at area schools, libraries, and community centers. Our Summer Camp for ages 4 –18 takes place at 4 locations around Houston: Rice Village (Main Street Theater), Museum District (Italian Cultural Center), Bellaire (Bellaire Parks & Rec), and Midtown (MATCH – Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston). Our camps are a performing arts playground where imaginations are sparked as students collaborate to create an original play and dance piece! Students take charge of all aspects of performance while professional teaching artists provide guidance and know-how support to students. Your child already has the tools he or she needs to love the arts and to create theater: a voice, a body, and an imagination!
One- and two-week sessions for ages 4 – 14 are available for our general camps. We also offer one day "Turbo Camps" (ages 6 - 11) at different times during the summer: sign up for as many or as few days as you wish! Before/After-Care available for our general camp sessions in Rice Village and at the MATCH. We also offer Summer Shakespeare for older students (through age 18): a 3-week course culminates in a full production open to the public.
