We will show the children how surgeons wash their hands. They will be required to wash their hands in this manner when they arrive, at both snack times, before and after lunch, and for the alternate art hour.

ALL children are required to clean up after themselves following each project. These duties include pick up after each art project, wiping down tables, sweeping, wiping the games they play with, etc.

With the red alert mandate still in effect for Houston businesses, we will continue to host 15 kids each week at our summer art camp.  Each table will have two children to work from each day. We sanitize our studio completely at the end of each day with a combination of Melaleuca Disinfectant and Thieves Multipurpose Cleaner.

The children attending the Mindful Movement Summer Camp participate in a variety of activities daily (each week). The morning begins with a 2 hour art class, followed by yoga, and then lunch. After lunch and board games, the children will have a one hour session with a local artist or maker, followed by a two hour art history lesson and project. Below is a look at our daily schedule:

THE PARTICIPANTS WILL DESIGN AN ART PROJECT BASED UPON THE ARTIST AND ART MEDIUM THEY LEARNED ABOUT THAT DAY.

The Alternative Art Hour
Each week the Mindful Movement Summer Camp will ask a local artist to provide the kids with a one to two hour class in their art. This alternative art hour is for full time students only. In the month of June for weeks 1 and 3 will host ceramic artist RJ Christensen in the afternoon. Week 2 and 4, we will offer the following classes for full day students only:

June Week 1: June 7th through 10th:

Ceramics: This week's summer camp includes a one hour session of ceramics making with Mr. Christensen. He will be guiding the children through the process of hand built pottery. After the pot is completed and has dried some overnight they will use a technique called under glazing. Under glazing is a clay based stain used much like watercolor or acrylic. We will keep the ceramics to dry for two weeks, and fire them with a clear gloss overglaze. You will be notified by email when they are ready for pick up at our studios.

June Week 2: June 14th through 17th

Monday - 4Petsake - will bring their animals for show & tell. They will speak to the children on the animals they bring.
Tuesday - Origami with Ms. Cheng
Wednesday - Roots in Harmony  will have a show and tell for the children about eating healthy, and tea blending techniques.
Thursday - Paper Marbling

June Week 3: June 21st through 24th:

Ceramics: This week's summer camp includes a one hour session of ceramics making and artwork with Mr. Christensen. He will be guiding the children through the process of hand built pottery. Food & Snacks

Lunch and snacks are not included in our price. Please make sure to pack a healthy lunch and two healthy snacks for your child. The children use a lot of brain power during the day and require fruits and veggies to sustain until 430p.  This applies to half day students as well. Candy, Chocolate, and soft drinks are NOT ALLOWED in our studios as they will cause sugar burnout and fatigue. These items will be taken and thrown out. Water is available at our studio for all children.

Doors open at 8a for you to drop your child and sign in.
