There is a fun theme every week and the students have academic classes in the morning from Monday - Thursday and then. Friday is the celebration day. In the afternoon students have a choice of 10 Enrichment activities. Before Care and After Care is available.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

WHAT IS PROJECT BRIARWOOD?

Project Briarwood is an academic summer enrichment and remediation program for students entering first through sixth grade for the 2023-2024 school year, with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, ADHD and other language-based delays. Project Briarwood combines explicit instruction related to language and math with a fun theme where the students can share what they have created on Fridays.

WHAT IS PROJECT BRIARWOOD Jr.?

Project Briarwood Jr. focuses on our youngest learners who are enrolled or will soon be enrolled in PreK or Kindergarten programs. The general themes from the main program are followed and the basic schedule is:

8:00 - 8:15 - Fine motor skills

8:15 - 8:45 - Morning Meeting

8:45 - 9:15 - Reading Comprehension

9:15 - 9:30 - Snack

9:30 - 9:45 - Recess

9:45 - 10:30 - Phonics

10:30 - 11:00 - Math

11:00 - 11:30 - PE

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SUMMER PROGRAMS? Project Briarwood is taught by a specialized staff of educators, using evidence-based academic strategies with reported outcomes, that can transfer to multiple settings. The program is designed to provide strategies to develop and build upon skills in the core areas of academics, as well as help with organization and study habits. Each week has a different theme, using project-based learning. At the end of each week, the students create a product, presentation, or performance related to the theme.

Afternoon Sessions: Students will experience fun activities related to the arts, physical movement, and technology. There are ten choices for these activities, based on enrollment. Note: students can choose different activities for each week, but must remain in the choice for the week. Once Project Briarwood begins, students will not be able to make changes to their choices.

  1. Cool Coding - Hosted by Coder Kids, our regular Mustang Madness coding education program, students will have a specific focus each week such as Scratch, Minecraft, and Roblox.

  1. Fun with Art - Students will create a variety of works of art in different types of media and, of course, have fun!
