Living in Texas and having a daughter who is a snowboard fanatic can be a challenge. We recently discovered a unique place in New Braunfels that offers snowboarding lessons...and so much more!
Texas Ski Ranch is an UNBELIEVABLY fun place where they get you up on a wake/skate/snow board in no time. If your teen or tween thinks they have outgrown summer camp, check out this adventure! Their attitude is that "Real Kids Play Outside!" It looked so fun when we visited, I even asked if they had an ADULT sumer camp! Nope, camp is for riders ages 6 to 16. But adults and non-campers can get private lessons and enjoy the park year-round outside of camp.
What exactly is Camp TSR?
Camp TSR is a great camp for teens and younger children alike. The action sports definitely appeal to an older audience, even for those tweens who may think they are too cool or have out grown summer camp. But TSR is awesome with younger kids too! Most of thecampers are between the ages of 6 and 15 and many have never been on a snowboard, wakeboard or skateboard before, and that is totally fine by them! TSR excels with beginners and have specialized programs and equipment designed for teaching first timers. They also have an incredible coaching staff to teach more advanced riders.
Who runs Camp TSR?
Camp TSR is a locally owned organization that has been operating under the same owner for eleven years. Their camp is smaller than most, capping at 30 overnight campers and 30 day campers each week. Having a smaller camp allows them to really get to know their campers and cater to their individual learning needs. Because of this they have many campers that return to us year after year... some even becoming camp staff!
What makes Camp TSR so unique?
What makes their camp truly unique, aka most popular feature, is the three cable systems and boat lake. This means lots and lots of water time to wakeboard, wake surf, knee board and waterski. Their cable park facilities were recently ranked in the top seven of the world, making it a top destination for pro athletes. But really, their two beginner systems and expert coaching staff are what makes their venue the best in the world to learn to ride. They also have a snowboard park, a 15,000 sq ft trampoline park, skate park, rock wall, paint ball course and stand up paddle boards making Camp TSR a summer camp experience unlike any other.
What about the rest of the year (and the rest of us who aren't campers?
The Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels operates year and is open to the public. There is no general admission for folks to come, hang out on the beach or dine at Wahoo's Fish Taco restaurant and bar. You simply pay for activities. TSR also offers birthday parties, lessons and group rates for wakeboarding, the trampoline park, snowboarding and skateboarding. They also have an after school program that is geared towards kids in 1st - 6th grade called Real Kids Play Outside. TSR offers annual and seasonal memberships for the cable park and snowboard park.
