Runaway Scrape & Engagement at Thompson’s Ferry
Join us for an exciting re-enactment of the Runaway Scrape and Engagement at Thompson’s Ferry events! In the spring of 1836, thousands of Texians fled from their homes as Santa Anna’s army began marching toward San Jacinto. At 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., visit the 1830s Jones Stock Farm and see the Texians in action as they struggle to retreat from the advancing Mexican forces and learn about more about the local engagement that would soon follow. Bring the story full circle with a stop at the 1930s George Yard to participate in a real archeological dig with the Fort Bend Archeological Society to help find artifacts left behind by previous generations.
An 1830s historical meal will be held at noon at the Jones Stock Farm. Cost for the meal is $15 for adults ages 13 and older; $12 for children ages 5-12 and $4 for children 4 and under. Reservations are strongly encouraged; for more information, call (281) 343-0218 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
