Summer Nature Camp- Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/13/2021
Studying science and history helps children to know and understand the world around them. The Museum offers your child this opportunity in a safe, fun, and educational setting. Through non-traditional teaching techniques, campers are encouraged to explore science, animal behavior, history, and their local environment using interactive lessons and educational games and crafts.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Our facilities include classroom areas, the Discovery Room, and a 40-acre park, all used to enhance your child’s learning experience. Staff members are experienced teachers and, to ensure personalized instruction, classes are kept small, with a teacher to student ratio of 1:5. Classes fill up quickly, so register soon! For more information, please call (979) 776-2195.

In order to ensure the safety of your children and our staff, the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History, after careful consideration, has changed Summer Nature Camp 2021 to a half-day program. Weekly themes are unchanged, but camp fees have been reduced.

Summer Nature Camp 2021 updates:

  • Camp sessions are now half-day camps (9:00 am-12:00 pm).

  • All camp sessions will be reduced to half capacity, approximately 5 students per age group.

  • Prices are reduced to $100/week for Members, and to $120/week for Non-Members.

  • We are following CDC recommendations regarding Youth Programs and Camps.

  • New Safety procedures include:

    • Required masks for campers while indoors

    • Required masks for all staff

    • Social distancing

    • Intensifying cleaning and disinfection efforts throughout the day

    • Modifying drop-off and pick-up procedures

    • Screening procedures upon arrival for both staff and campers

    • Maintaining an 5 to 1 ratio of staff to children to ensure safety

    • Further details will be sent to parents after your child’s registration is confirmed.

    • We will require masks for our campers while indoors. We will do our best to spend plenty of time outdoors where the campers would be allowed to remove masks.

Further details will be sent to parents after their child’s registration is confirmed.

Our camp instructors sincerely regret that the COVID-19 pandemic does not allow us to conduct this year's Summer Nature Camp as we have in the past. However, with these new procedures in places, we feel confident that we can host our Camp in a fun & educational way that will keep your children and our staff.

If you have questions about your registration, and/or the changes to our Camp, please reach out to the Museum during business hours (Tuesday-Friday, 10am-5pm) at 979.776.2195  or email us at education@brazosvalleymuseum.org. Someone from our Education Team will be happy to assist you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during these uncertain times. Thank you so much for your support of the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History.

Sincerely,

Museum Education Team
