Where Science and Summer Fun Meet!
Although the Summer Science Safari has been going strong since 2001 for Junior High-Level students, this is our first year to offer our first ever Summer Science Safari-The High School Experience. We are taking our tried and true formula for bringing “real science” to our Junior High students and have enhanced it to offer Science, Technology Mathematics, and Engineering (STEM) students a look at what the future holds for them if they begin NOW to reach for their dreams. We will take them to places geared to their interests in STEM and show them what it takes to achieve their goals presented by experts in these fields. Your student has seen the pictures in the science textbooks, now they can experience the science first hand. Whether it’s exploring the ecology of exploring the high-tech engineering of a Cyclotron or a Mach 6 Wind Tunnel or exploring the Hill Country by Zip-Line, your student is sure to learn and see many fascinating things—not to mention having a great time.
Carlton Colmenares who has 13 years teaching science education will be the Campus Coordinator at Seven Lakes High School. His experiences in cosmopolitan settings and agri-business equate to interdisciplinary success. As a boy, he was either wading in roadside ditches looking for tadpoles or up a tree to enjoy the view. He still finds fascination in the natural world and strives to impart this appreciation to his students.
Due to the nature of this camp, a brief letter of recommendation from a Math, Science, or Engineering teacher is required as part of the registration.
All Katy/Houston Area students are Eligible.
We’re excited to bring this wonderful program to you this year.
