About Park & Recreation Month
In 1985, Congress designated July as National Park and Recreation Month and since then, Americans spend the month of July recognizing the importance of parks and recreation for contributing to the physical, economic and environmental well-being of communities.
Each year, the Sugar Land Mayor signs a proclamation recognizing the role of the Parks & Recreation Department in enhancing the quality of life for Sugar Land residents and the surrounding community. Sugar Land Parks & Recreation offers active, passive and diverse activities and events, and our parks and natural recreation areas ensure the ecological beauty of our community, as well as provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature and recreate outdoors.
