Happy Lunar New Year! Engage your senses as we we enter the Year of the Rat for our upcoming Winter Festival: Celebrating the Lunar New Year!

Winter Festival: Celebrating Lunar New Year is presented by H-E-B!

We have art activities, performances and games for all ages! Check out our schedule below! 

CREATE 
The Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza and Cullen Sculpture Garden
• A giant scroll with wishes of good luck and fortune for the Houston community
• Japanese "ema" plaques with wishes to hang from the trees
• Paper flowers inspired by Vietnamese chrysanthemums, a symbol of life
• Lion masks to bring good fortune
• Peach blossom paintings to keep your family peaceful and healthy
• Sparkling firecracker sculptures to scare away evil spirits
• Press & play with zodiac animal stamps
• Red paper lanterns to symbolize a bright future
• Mochi, a Japanese rice cake, with Japan America Society Houston
• Origami with Asia Society Texas Center

LOOK & LISTEN

• Master of Ceremonies Van Thanh Thuy of Radio Saigon
• Elaine Tao of the Campbell Learning Center
• North American Youth Chinese Orchestra (2:00 p.m.)
• Vietnamese martial art demonstration with Vovinam Lo Duc (2:45 p.m.)
• Kaminari Taiko drumming ensemble (3:30 p.m.)
• Houston House of Angklung (4 p.m.)
• K-pop showcase with I.R.I.S., WonderBox, and David Nunez 4:30 p.m.
• Lee’s Golden Dragon traditional lion dance (5 p.m.)

DISCOVER
The Glassell School of Art and Cullen Sculpture Garden
• Chinese calligraphy with Peihong Endris
• Hanbok, traditional Korean dress with Han Narea (in the Cullen Sculpture Garden)
• Indonesian batik with Evita Pohan
• Vietnamese Culture & Science Association (VCSA) and traditional Vietnamese dresses
• Animals of the zodiac with the Houston Zoo (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

The Glassell Coffee Bar
• Complimentary hot green tea
• Flavors of mochi, a Japanese rice cake
• Art of the Spirits Bar*
