Zoo Sprouts (18-23 Months) at the Houston Zoo | Kids Out and About Houston

Zoo Sprouts (18-23 Months) at the Houston Zoo

Begin your journey into nature! This program is designed specifically for 18 to 23 month olds and their favorite adult to spend time connecting with the natural world and each other. We will explore the day to day lives of our animals while giving children the opportunity to discover their environment. This program includes activities intended to develop fine motor skills, and will also feature the chance to meet and touch animals up close in each class.

Silly Stripes! – Thursday, May 10 or Saturday, May 12

Now you see me, now you don’t! Stripes are amazing for hiding in plain sight and here at the Houston Zoo, we have several animals who do stripes right. Join us as we gallop over to see our zebras and okapis and see if you can camouflage along with them!

Nice Noses! – Thursday, June 7 or Saturday, June 9

My what a long nose you have! Whether it’s used to find greens to chow down on or to sniff out the best ant piles, these two animals have some of the craziest noses in the animal kingdom. Come get nosey with us as we check out our tapirs and anteaters!

Amazing Arms! – Thursday, July 5 or Saturday, July 7

Swinging from the tree tops or walking along the ground, watch as our orangutans move in very different ways. See if you can spot similarities and differences between us and our primate friends.

Cool Cats! – Thursday, August 9 or Saturday, August 11

Did you know some cats LOVE the water? Here at the Houston Zoo, our tigers enjoy taking a dip to cool off from the summer heat. Catch up with other Sprouts as we check out whether Satu the tiger is enjoying her time in the moat.
