Energy Day is Houston’s largest annual FREE family festival showcasing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Energy Day has nearly 70 interactive demonstrations and exhibits that teach students and their families about the various forms of energy through STEM fields, along with efficiency, conservation, and other related STEM industries.

Enjoy a spooking-ly delightful meal, followed by a lantern walking tour of the Park, filled with unique Texas ghost stories – including some tales that originate right here at the Ranch!

The story follows The Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to go the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood witch, who reveals to them that she placed a curse on their family, the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse.
We welcome you to attend our admission events. The scheduled tours will include a brief overview by Director of Admission, Craig Meredith, followed by a student-guided tour. The admission information and open house events will include presentations by administrators, opportunities to meet teachers and student-guided tours. Reservations are not needed to participate in these events.
Unleash the kids this harvest season and set them loose in a Pumpkin Patch full of interactive games, prizes, tricks and treats! Kids of all ages love the ride aboard the historic rails from the Rusk depot to Texas State Railroad’s very own Pumpkin Patch. It’s a short 30-minute train ride with departure times at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All passengers, young and old, are encouraged to come attired in their Halloween finest. The 90-minute layover at the Pumpkin Patch includes hayrides, spooky tunes, and other seasonal music. Tiny boos and ghouls also enjoy hopping in the bounce house and trick-or-treating on our very own “Trick or Treat Street.” Every child can pick out his or her own pumpkin to take home for jack-o-lantern creating. Delicious lunch items are available for purchase.
