School of Rock Performance-Based Music Programs Rock Socializing— With Social Distancing

Kids have been inspired in the School of Rock community for the last 8 and half years, learning music by playing music– together. Through programs designed for all skill levels, students go from lessons and rehearsal to performance– developing confidence, talent and teamwork skills along the way. Students, ages 7 to 18 engage in a private, one-on-one lesson. Those weekly lessons come with a bonus: the chance to be a rock star. Once enrolled, students become part of a band as well, and play in a socially distanced rehearsal each week. Bands are determined by skill level and age. They practice together for a season (about 4 months) and then play a show. This unique approach allows students to use what they learn from their teacher in the real-world setting of a band, comprised of their peers. They learn to rock on stage and in life.

School of Rock community members also have access to our one-of-a-kind, fully integrated Method app. The App provides an enhanced learning experience and reinforced practice schedule. Parents and students know what should be worked on and progress can be tracked.

Programs—Something For All Ages

Rookies

Ages 5-7. Fun musical activities and hands-on experience with guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and singing, so they can discover which instrument interests them most.

Rock 101

Ages 7-12. Your budding rock star applies music fundamentals learned in their private lessons to playing in a band. Rock 101 is a fun, low stress environment where basics are mastered while playing songs with other kids.

Junior Performance

Ages 9-12.  Upon completing Rock 101, your young rocker learns harmonies, musicianship and much more about performing as a band.

Performance

Ages 12-18. For beginner to advanced players. With several show themes each season, your team will excel from one level to the next– all while playing music they love.

Rock 101, Junior Performance and Performance Programs include a weekly private lesson and weekly band rehearsals.

VIRTUAL LEARNING AND PHYSICAL FUN!
Students will have their own study area with dividers between them so they can be separated from each other without feeling too boxed in. Study areas will be sanitized in the mornings as well as between the morning and afternoon sessions.
Classroom counselors will make sure the kids are at their study area in time for scheduled class check-in times. They will monitor the kids to keep them focused on their work and help with basic questions. Keep in mind our counselors are here to help but they are not tutors.
Parents will be responsible for providing any necessary electronic devices, written materials, or other school supplies the children might need during study-time. Students will need to use headphones or earbuds in order to keep the study area quiet for everyone. High-speed internet will be available to all students.
Everyone is required to wear a mask while in the building and temperatures will be checked upon entry every day.

Wonderseum for 4 year-olds
The Woodlands Children's Museum

What makes Wonderseum so unique? PLAY FIRST

Wonderseum was created to assist with the need for an expanded Mother’s Day Out program, providing pre-school objectives in our community. It was built on the belief that PLAY comes FIRST and that PLAY provides a secure environment for discovery and learning. Recognizing that 4 year-olds need social interaction and cognitive development, our program is offered 2 or 3 days a week with a class size of only 10, allowing our educators to have an abundance of time to engage with students.

This past year, our little “wonders” graduated on stage celebrating a one year journey of creative learning in a nurturing environment.
With a Reggio Emilia inspired environment and located inside the museum, they were presented with projects that embellished their fine motor skills and self-expression, while preparing them with Kindergarten readiness skills.

Fall Winter Workshops
The Woodlands Children's Museum

Our dynamic small group Fall and Winter Workshops offer age appropriate activities that are especially designed to foster creativity, promote self-expression and develop a young child’s imagination.

Curriculum is designed to support the cognitive development of early learners through hands-on engagement. Critical thinking skills are nurtured through cause and effect interactive discovery learning techniques using the arts, dramatic play, squishing, sorting, mixing, swirling, collecting and building.

Our workshops are presented by experienced educators with a talent for piquing children’s natural curiosity. Young learners may participate in social development class and for Home School families, our workshops are a perfect supplement to the academic school year.
