CRAFTY AIRCRAFT

From hot air balloons to gliders and rockets, every day will be a build challenge as you create working model aircraft to take home, explore things that look like they shouldn’t fly but do, and invent your own flying contraption. Inventors study science to create their machines – learn the science that make each aircraft work and how your models follow the same rules of flight. Just like the toys that inspired the Wright brothers!

Dates: June 27 – July 1, August 1 – 5

  • Recommended ages: 8-9 years old
  • 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • $225, before and after care available for $50 each for the week

He loved it! He could not wait to go back each day! He loved the flight simulators and the hands-on experiences with the planes.

PILOT MAKER I-PRIMARY TRAINING

The T-6 Texan was called the “Pilot Maker” because it was the last training plane young pilots flew before taking on the WWII Warbird fighters and bombers. Follow flight school training as you learn the science that a pilot needs to know, how physics is used to control the aircraft, and the mechanics inside the planes. Practice simulator flying on the flight trainers using your new navigating and piloting skills as you progress through a new flight plan every day. After completing your primary training, test your flying skills in a warbird dogfight at the end of the week.

Dates: June 20 – 24, July 11 – 15, July 25 – 29

  • Recommended ages: 10-12 years old
  • 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • $225, weeklong before and after care available for $50 each

PILOT MAKER II-BASIC TRAINING

New camp!

So, you’ve caught the aviation bug and are ready for more? After completing Pilot Maker I, continue your training to a greater skill set including flying in more real-world situations. You’ve learned how to navigate a flight path, but can you calculate the trip and land with a 30-mph crosswind, at night, with a 1000 ft cloud ceiling? In this next level training, perfect your piloting skills of maintaining altitude, controlled turns, and instrument flight while dealing with weather conditions, convection currents, and mechanical failures.

Dates: July 18 – 22, August 1 – 5

  • Recommended ages: 10-12 years old
  • 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

ACES AND LEGENDS

Take a close look at the planes and people that made history.  The battles in the skies started with the race for dominant engineering to make the next bigger and faster aircraft design.  Each day, examine a different set of warbirds – observers, trainers, dive bombers, fighters, and heavy bombers – up close to see how differences in technology meant life or death on the battlefield, and learn about the pilots and crew that relied on that machine to get the job done.  Then hop in our networked flight simulators with your campmates making up a squadron to recreate WWII missions by defending a bombing run in a P-51 Mustang, divebombing a battleship in an SBD Dauntless, and dogfighting in a Corsair. (Also available for 13 – 14 years.)

Our son has been absolutely glowing all week, full of stories, new experiences. Thank you so much. I don’t know how we can top this experience to be honest.

ADVANCED PILOT TRAINING

New camp!

Experience the science of flight.  Study weather phenomenon, the physics of flight, weight distribution, and more, then test your skills in the simulators battling these conditions in different types of planes. If your friends went flying, how much luggage is safe? What would you do if the weather went bad while in the air? What if your engine stalled?  Learn how to prepare for the best and prepare for the worst and experience it all it the flight simulators
