5th Annual Summer Dance Intensive
What to expect:
Repertory classes of NMD choreography will be offered daily and all students will have the opportunity to learn from Co-Directors Andy and Dionne Noble, exciting guest artists, as well as from the talented dance artists of NMD. Dancers will train for approximately six hours each day alongside working professional dancers from the Houston Dance Community. A culminating performance will take place the final day of the Intensive, giving the dancers an opportunity to showcase choreography learned throughout the week.
Guest Performance Opportunity
NMD is excited to announce that during SDI they will be auditioning dancers for an opportunity to perform the critically acclaimed dance Tower with the company in NMDs August 2019 performance at The Hobby Center. Choreographed by Andy Noble and Laura Harrell and featuring 33 dancers, Tower builds in unrelenting waves until it finally rains live on stage. “It’s an exhilarating ride,” states co-choreographer Andy Noble. “You don’t get to see a big physical dance like this very often and seeing it rain live on stage is pretty fantastic!” This work was recently performed by Dallas Black Dance Theater and Utah’s Repertory Dance Theater with rave reviews!
Special Performance Opportunity and Sneak Preview
NMD is excited to announce that the Summer Dance Intensive Workshop Performance will be held at Sam Houston State University in their state-of-the-art James and Nancy Gaertner Dance Theater. Intensive participants will travel to SHSU on Friday to tech and rehearse for this special 7 PM performance. First half will showcase intensive dancers performing repertory learned at SHSU and the second half will be a sneak preview of NMD’s August 2019 Hobby Center performance! More details to come!
