ON-GOING THANKSGIVING ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS:
Woven Paper Placemats: Design and weave strips of paper in fall colors to use as a placemat for Thanksgiving at Alexander Art Academy.
Fall Leaves Turkey: Ruffle feathers and make a turkey out of leaves at EcoStation.
Going on a Leaf Hunt: Look for fallen leaves in EcoStation and see if you can identify what tree they fell from at EcoStation.
Thank You Tree: Write a thank you leaf and place it on the Thank You Tree at Junktion.
Great Gobbler Fan: It can still get hot in Houston in November, celebrate the season with a great gobbler fan at Junktion.
Turkey Leg Hat: Make this hilarious turkey leg hat as you celebrate and give thanks at Junktion.
I Only Have Pies for You: Build as many pies as possible while being the last person to find a piece of the pie at Math Cart.
Cranberry Chemistry: Conduct an acid/base reaction and neutralization using a popular Thanksgiving food, the cranberry at Science Station.
Microscopic Pond Life: Examine pond water samples from our Ecostation Pond and explore the different kinds of microorganisms living there at Power Science Lab.
DNA Extraction: Extract and examine DNA found in peas at Power Science Lab.
Cabbage Chemistry: Watch how the anthocyanin in cabbage juice changes colors from deep red to green depending on pH of the substance to which it is added at Power Science Lab.
Buffers in Action: Learn the importance of function buffers in acid/base chemical reactions at Power Science Lab.
Music Responsive LED: Build a circuit that illuminates LED lights based on sound when plugged into a headphone jack at Maker Annex. ( Event time: Thurs., 5:30- 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 2-4 p.m.
