Hands-on Houston: 25th Birthday Celebration
This September, HCCC turns 25! Join us to celebrate our milestone birthday at this month’s Hands-on Houston with our favorite activity: making with our community! Since no birthday celebration is complete without candles and cake, we’ll be making our own! Using simple hand-rolling techniques, participants will make their own beeswax-rolled candles. Candles can range from a single taper, a couple of short and skinny candles, or even a set of birthday candles. Personalize your candle by adding a design using colored beeswax. This introduction to candle making is perfect for all ages and skill levels. All participants will receive a commemorative HCCC birthday pin, and the first 200 will receive a slice of birthday cake. Help us celebrate a quarter century of making as we look forward to an exciting future!

Note: Please allow 25 minutes to complete this activity. The activity will take place indoors and is on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month (except in July). Each month, a teaching artist or guild demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Community members of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11AM and 3 PM and participate in a 20–25-minute activity. Materials are provided.
