Houston Fiber Fest
The first Houston Fiber Fest was held in July 2015 with great success. Our inaugural festival, hosted by the Knit At Night Guild, exceeded all expectations. It was a two day event with over 900 attendees, 30 vendors, and classes taught by knitwear designer Joan McGowan Michael. Participants had fun yarn-bombing the Berry Center’s front entrance, and the “bombs” were sewn together and donated to charity after being taken down. In June 2016, our second event featured an expanded vendor hall and over 1300 attendees. The festivities kicked off with a Thursday night trunk show by Romi Hill, where she talked about the design process and showed off the stunning patterns from her new book New Lace Knitting: Designs For Wide Open Spaces. Romi also taught a weekend of classes. There were limited edition canvas logo bags for sale, a great selection of raffle prizes, and on-site food at the concession stand. Knitted, crocheted, and woven pieces made by local fiber artists were featured in our Talent Display.
