Join ceramicist Jessica Ninci in this two-day beginner-friendly workshop exploring the design and production of expressive pottery. You’ll learn a bit about ceramic techniques and stiles from history and contemporary art for inspiration and using earthenware clay to create a fun and functional ceramic project to take home the following week.
In this two part workshop, day 1 you will use the coil method to build an even, symmetrical vessel, then embellish it as you see fit with texture, feet/legs, handles, low or high relief sculpture, or carving. Finished work can be left at GAC to be glazed the following week; you will be notified by email when it’s ready for you to pick up.
Day 2, return to GAC to glaze your ceramic piece in the color and pattern of your design. Participants must be available both dates to complete their pottery.
