Million Mile Month April 2015

*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 04/30/2015
A challenge to all of Texas to walk, run, ride or swim 1,000,000 miles together as one community each April.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Million Mile Month (MMM) is a one month challenge that encourages Texans to come together as one large virtual community with a goal of walking, running, or riding one million miles in April. Together we are a powerful support system and a great example for our youth to follow.

MMM isn’t just for the athletic folks of the world, MMM is for EVERYONE. We want you to get outside and have fun getting active with your friends, family, pets, and neighbors. Complete miles in the real world, log those miles on the MMM website, win prizes and help the community reach 1 million miles. Easy as that!

The million mile challenge starts April 1, but the earlier you register the more cool MMM events you will know about and prize opportunities you will have. REGISTER now.

Where is the MMM event?

Anywhere! Whether you ride a stationary bike, run on a treadmill, walk around the block, or take a 40 mile bike ride, your miles count. By logging your miles every day you are helping us reach the 1M mile goal, and you will have the chance to win some awesome prizes from our sponsors.

How do I register for the MMM event?

Registration is quick and easy. You can register by clicking here.

How do you win prizes?

We have awesome prizes to be awarded at many different personal and community wide milestones. The more miles you log, the more chances you have to win prizes!

Who does MMM benefit?

The Million Mile has a two-fold benefit. First is the benefit to the health and wellness of participating individuals. In addition the Million Mile Month financially benefits nonprofit organizations whose mission is to make a positive impact on childhood obesity and its related diseases.Learn more about the partners MMM is benefiting.

Can I host a MMM event?

Of course! Our motto is, "the more the merrier." Get your co-workers, your church group, your neighborhood, and/or your friends together and host MMM get-togethers with the goal of getting active and achieving miles together. This is a perfect chance to meet new people and explore the endless amounts of hike and bike trails and state parks located across Texas. Email us at contact@millionmilemonth.org for a "How-To Host an Event" guide.

If I’m already running a race, triathlon, marathon, office fitness challenge, etc. can I count those miles?

Yes, it does not matter when, where or how you complete your miles. We just want you to be inspired to get active! Whether you are walking to school, biking to work, running at the gym or participating in a race or walkathon…log those miles on the MMM website during April to win prizes and help the community reach one million miles.

Are there age restrictions on who can participate?

No. We want EVERYONE to participate, and have fun doing it. Grab the kids, your grandma, and your dog, and get outside. Unfortunately we can only log human miles, but believe me, your pooch will love the extra outdoor time with his favorite human.
