Children's Museum of Houston invites children with Autism to celebrate science of silliness.

The Children’s Museum of Houston will finish off our Amazingly Immature Spring Break with tons of silly, slimy fun on Sensory Friendly Day, March 23. Sensory Friendly Day is an opportunity for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to explore the Museum. This exclusive event will provide a comfortable, protected and accepting environment, allow parents to make connections with other families, and offer new tools and resources. Doors will be closed to the public. There will be no music and sound reducing headphones will be available. Outside food and drinks will be allowed (Fresh Café will be closed).
SPECIAL EVENTS:
- Music Therapy Activities: Move and groove to therapeutic music in Tree Top Discovery Room. Sign up at the Information Booth.
- Obstacle Course: Test your bilateral coordination and balance as you race through our fun and challenging obstacle course in PowerPlay.
- Hands-on Specialists: Learn more about your child’s development as they engage in fun sensory activities with our Board Certified Speech Pathologists and Behavior Analysts.
ON-GOING ACTIVITIES:
- Electronic Whoopee Cushion: Enjoy endless laughs while building your own whoopee cushion at Inventors’ Workshop.
- Take Home Snot: Learn how to create a chemical change that will gross everyone out when you make your own snot at Science Station.
- What’s That Smell?: Use your nose to sniff out trouble at Science Station.
- Immature Paintings: Use tiny tools to create mini masterpieces at Alexander Art Academy.
- Make Your Own Scat: Scat is just a fancy way to say poop! Mold poo-dough into your favorite animal’s scat at Ecostation.
- Match That Scat: Get the scoop on poop as you match scat to the animal that left it behind at Ecostation.
- Pass the Pigs: Pig out on numbers as you count your way to victory at ExxonMobil Math Cart.
