Monday 6/8: Young Audiences of Houston: The Music of Apollo Chamber Players
Apollo Chamber Players illuminate the folk traditions of world cultures through the medium of chamber music. Be prepared to join Apollo on a musical melting pot of stories and serenades from around the world.
Monday 6/15: Young Audiences of Houston: Twanda’s Theatre on Wheels
Join YAH Teaching Artist Twanda's Theatre on Wheels and celebrate Juneteenth through an exploration of African customs and traditions. Through this performance, the audience will engage in an African folktale story about a boy who loves to play the ukulele, a dad who plays too many tricks, and a giant called ABIYOYO. Boys and girls will create their own Abiyoyo puppet with the use of their imagination.
Monday 6/22: Young Audiences of Houston: Creative Movement with Jalia Arts
Students will engage in expression, storytelling, and interpretation of poetry and more in Jalia Movement Arts’ workshops. Students use dance to bring written works to life and experience their own ideas and emotions.
Monday 6/29: Young Audiences of Houston: Literacy Through Photography with Fotofest
FotoFest creates new opportunities for cross-cultural and international exchange through photography and new media art. Literacy Through Photography uses photography as a tool to strengthen student writing and learning skills. FotoFest’s programs are distinguished by their commitment to social issues and the presentation of important new contemporary artwork that is often not yet widely shown.
