Digital Photography for Teens

In this introductory course, Roxann Grover will demystify the technical aspects of digital photography, including camera mechanics, as well as the subjective intent of the photographer as an expressive artist. Students will learn how to apply basic design principals to photography and earn how manipulate their cameras’ exposure (f-stop, shutter speed, ISO), depth-of-field, focus, and focal length to take their image-making to the next level.
CLASS FORMAT
This class will include both classroom instruction, in-studio photography and w with controlled lighting, as well as in-the-field walking outings near the Galveston Arts Center. Students will learn to critique their photos, how to set files up for printing and web publishing, and will have the opportunity to exhibit prints in the Education hallway at GAC.
PRICING
Regular tuition: $125
GAC Members: $100
Camera not included. Any digital camera that has a manual mode OR smartphone with camera-not sure if your smartphone will meet the requirements of the class? Send us an email or call to find out!

Students must be at least 13 at the time of enrollment.

Missed classes will not be refunded.

In the rare event of cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances, we will make every effort to schedule a make-up session on an alternate date.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TEENS
Teachers, counsellors, etc. may nominate a student with whom they are professionally acquainted for a scholarship if they can attest to the the student’s interest in the subject and financial need. The student’s parent/legal guardian will be notified and given further instructions. You may not nominate your own child, dependent, or other close relation.
