ART IN ACTION: Art has a misconception as something that is predominately experienced through sight. While some of the great masterpieces of the world are paintings and photographs, there are so many other areas in the spectrum of art that appeal to the rest of our senses. This isn’t your typical arts and crafts – this is art in action! Clay impressions, flexagons, animated flip books, and clock making are just some of the activities that intersect creativity with sensorial experiences. Camp is held Monday - Friday as half-day programming available in two time zones: 9:00-12:00pm EST / 9:30-12:30pm PST. Families will need to source some general household products and supplies; we share a materials list in advance. Pricing: $150/week not including supplies and materials.
DRAWING AND DESIGN: Kids will love learning all about the basics of art and getting their hands dirty with drawing and design. Portrait drawing, tessellations, 3D drawing, and parabolic art are just some of the projects kids will work on during this week’s theme. There is lots of meaning to unpack from math and patterns in parabolic art to the origins of portrait drawing and how it has evolved in modern times (hint: selfies).
