Spring Break with Young Audiences of Houston

Enjoy a variety of programming that will appeal to children of a variety of ages and interests from Young Audiences of Houston. Learn the skill of Stage Combat, the Art of Screen Printing, and the history of street art and civic pride. Want to know what it takes to be a superhero? Go through superhero action training and improve your skills. Looking for something more magical, enjoy a meet and greet with your favorite Disney princesses during storytime. On Monday, March 15 at 3 p.m., swashbucklers and Jedi alike will learn about partnering, teamwork, and choreography, while challenging each other with special safety foam swords in this Stage Combat session from Young Audiences of Houston. Superhero Training with popular crime-fighters Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Captain America comes to CityPlace on Tuesday, March 16 at 3 p.m. Costumes are encouraged.

 

On Wednesday, March 17 at 3 p.m., aspiring artists in grades Pre-K through 12 can try their hand at the Art of Screen Printing. Participants will explore the impacts of math, science, and history in this versatile process, creating multiple pieces of original art, including t-shirt designs with school logos and more. Princesses Sleeping Beauty, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and Ariel from The Little Mermaid will share their favorite fairy tales during Princess Storytime on Thursday, March 18 at 3 p.m.

 

On Friday, March 19 at 3 p.m., join professional artists from Houston’s UP Art Studio for an introduction to the graffiti movement, the rise of modern street art, and its impact on civic pride. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own mini mural. Open to students grades 6 to 12. Space is limited.
