Author Visit with Sophia Baradat
Friday, October 9, from 11:00am to 12:15pm
Sophia Baradat is our special guest author at Storybook Theatre on Friday, October 9, from 11:00am to 12:15pm. She will read A Colorful World on stage; and families will then be invited to visit her at a meet and greet table, where they will help create a “Flower of Kindness” collaborative mural as well as their own flower art project to do at the museum or bring home. Books will not be sold at the event, but families will receive bookmarks with a QR code that links directly to the book’s Amazon page ($9.99, paperback).
Storybook Theatre, Friday, Oct. 16 at 11am presents “Adela’s Mariachi Band” by Denise Vega. Adela really wants to be a part of her family’s mariachi band but struggles to discover where she can fit in! This story is filled with joy, funny instrument sounds, and Spanish vocabulary. Hispanic Heritage Month was observed over the past month, so this is just one more chance to celebrate this diverse and colorful culture!
Storybook Theatre, Friday, Oct. 23 at 11am presents “Dumpling Day” by Meera Sriram. In honor of Global Diversity Awareness Month, we are touring the world through dumplings (apple dumplings in the United States, samosas in India, bourekas in Israel, and several other countries and regions)! The names, shapes, and ingredients are different; but every dumpling shares the connection to cultural traditions and the importance of sharing food with family.
Storybook Theatre, Friday, Oct. 30 at 11am presents “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything” by Linda Williams. This is one of Miss Jan’s favorite stories for the Halloween season! Children will help provide sound effects for this child-friendly seasonal tale of the little old lady who encounters some noisy items while strolling through the woods. She gets over her fear in a delightful and creative way.
