Winter Faire Activities: Families enjoy various crafts and games for all ages. Our games include mushroom slingshot, snowball tossing, gnome bowling, walnut boat racing, and more. Waldorf-themed crafts include wand and crown making, shield painting, star folding, candle dipping, and jump rope making.
Live Entertainment: Our stage will be graced with live performances from a local bluegrass band, as well as violin performances from our very own 3rd-5th grade students. Special appearances are made by King Winter himself, who tells the story of Winter’s approach, as well as the mysterious Pocket Lady, who dons a cape full of pockets, where she keeps treasures for the children to discover. New in 2023, we will feature a marionette puppet performance, sponsored by Young Audiences of Houston.
Holiday Shopping: Winter Faire features a specially curated marketplace including local artisans and vendors offering unique gifts, crafts, and handmade goods. This is an excellent opportunity for attendees to find special holiday gifts and support local businesses. Our vendor marketplace is chosen with intention to reflect our school community and values: sustainable, organic, handmade, natural and just a wee bit
quirky. Every year we welcome back seasoned vendor Rancho Inca Alpaca, who bring baby alpacas for petting, and hand-knitted wool items to purchase.
Gourmet Delights: Our festival features a highly popular bake sale with a “donut wall”, featuring fresh baked savory and sweet treats, including vegan and gluten-free offerings, plus coffee, cocoa and popcorn. Our hot food station is catered by award-winning chef Tony Luhrman of El Topo, winner of the 2022 Butcher’s Ball. Traditionally our Winter Faire hot food offering includes hearty soups and stews served in warm fresh bread bowls, with vegan/vegetarian offerings included.
Raffle: The event culminates in an exciting raffle experience, with specially curated prize baskets. Baskets are sourced from donated goods and experiences, including items purchased, made, or provided by our parent community.
