Family Fish Camp

Connect with family and nature as Jones Park partners with Fishing’s Future and TPWD to teach families the joys of fishing. Parents and kids of all ages spend the day learning basic fishing techniques from experienced anglers and trained volunteers. Rotate through skills stations to start, learning to tie fishing knots, proper handling techniques, tackle-box basics, fish identification, plus expert tips and tricks. The morning also covers TPWD fishing rules and regulations, angler ethics, water and boat safety, and environmental stewardship. In the afternoon, participants head out to put their newly acquired skills to the test and end the day with a presentation of certificates. All equipment is provided, but participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and bring a light lunch, water bottle, insect repellent, hat, sunglasses, and a chair. Ages 8 and up.
