Prairie on Fire: A Hike of New Growth
Experience Galveston Island’s wild side in a way few ever have!

Join us for an exclusive hike through the park's prairie lands, just after a prescribed burn has revitalized the area. This is your chance to witness the transformation of the landscape and its wildlife as it recovers and flourishes from the carefully controlled burn that promotes healthy growth and habitat renewal.

This hike has very little shade, so hats and sunglasses are highly recommended.
- Bring: Sunscreen, bug spray, water, weather appropriate clothing and comfortable hiking shoes.
- Meet: Nature Center
- What to expect: presentation on prairie grasses, ~0.3 walk on grass trail; some uneven spots
- Cost: Entry fee is $5 for adults and FREE for children 12 & under. Park entry free with a State Parks Pass.
